More about White Laminate Flooring
Why Should I Consider White Laminate Flooring?
A white wood laminate floor comes with many benefits. First and foremost is its style. White wood flooring creates a clean and minimalist look that will complement any colour scheme and never go out of fashion. This is why it’s a firm favourite in bedrooms, lounges, and even offices, as you can mix and match your interior furnishings without worrying about how it will go with your floor.
Because of its versatility, you can create a rustic, contemporary, or traditional look with this flooring. There are many options available, from a high gloss white laminate to a white wood style. Due to its light hue, the type of flooring can extend a small or cluttered room to make it appear more spacious. So it’s perfect if you’d like to maximise a small home.
Finally, laminate is one of the easiest floors to maintain and is less prone to damage than engineered wood or solid wood floors. Therefore you don’t need to worry about the occasional spill and this floor is suitable for rooms with higher moisture levels, such as kitchens or bathrooms.
How to Install White Laminate Flooring
Laminate is one of the easiest types of floor to install yourself and does not require any glue due to a simple and durable click system.
- First, prepare your subfloor and make sure it is both clean and dry so you’re ready to lay your new flooring.
- Before laying your laminate you might want to consider adding underlay. This is recommended underneath laminate floors as it will conserve heat and soundproof your room. To install underlay, simply tape the sheets together and lay flat on the floor.
- Start laying your laminate from the left-hand corner of the room, leaving a perimeter of 8-10mm for beading. This also allows space for the laminate to expand. Click each board into place until the floor is covered.
- Finally, install beading around the perimeter of the room and fix into place using a hammer and nails. For more information on laminate installation check out our guides here.
How to Care For White Laminate Flooring
White wood laminate may seem like a chore to take care of due to the colour easily showing dirt. However, this is one of the easiest floors to clean, making it perfect for those who don’t have a lot of time on their hands.
Although this flooring is more water resistant then wood floors, try not to get it too wet as excessive water could lead to swelling. Therefore to clean your white laminate, use a damp microfibre mop.
With white floors its recommended to keep them sparkling. To achieve this you can use a laminate flooring cleaning solution with your mop, or if you’d like to save the pennies, white vinegar creates a similar effect.
