Well, what a year 2020 proved to be. During the chaos caused by the global pandemic and sudden halt on travel, consumers have instead focused on making improvements to their homes during lockdown.
According to Santander, 3 in 5 UK homeowners have fast-tracked their home improvement plans and completed a renovation project during this time. However, the surge in demand is showing no signs of abating. A huge 81% of homeowners are planning to make improvements to their homes in the next 12 months.
A central part of any home renovation project is the flooring, with one particular flooring type surging in popularity during 2020, namely LVT. Our team of flooring experts has conducted research into the most popular flooring types, looking at relative search interest, demand and our own website data, with everything pointing to further growth for luxury vinyl tiles, with it even having the potential to eclipse some of the flooring mainstays of the last 30 years.
Don't just take our word for it! The Google Trends data clearly shows the rising popularity of LVT:This flourish chart shows both the number of searches and the rank of each flooring type over the past 5 years.
"LVT is the fastest growing flooring type I have ever seen is 35 years of trading" Paul Hambidge, Managing Director of Factory Direct Flooring Ltd
