We recently bought and have fitted Embrace Herringbone 10mm Ecru Oak 6014. It is constantly making cracking noises when walked on. We have left an expansion gap all around the edges of the room. Can you help? Why is it making the noise? We laid a basic underlay on solid wooden floor below.

Hi Laura,
When a laminate floor starts to do this, it is a sign of movement. The noise is basically the joints rubbing together or clicking in and out.
Movement arises from 2 main causes, either the product is not adequately supported underneath or the is not adequate expansion around the perimeter of the room, the floor then starts to push upwards and when it's walked over, it moves, this is what makes the noise.
These are really the only 2 main contributory causes for movement. This can be even worse with herringbone flooring as you tend to have more flooring joints that you do with a wider longer plank laminate.

When will my order arrive?
Our standard delivery provides orders to your door within 2-5 working days. As we want to ensure you’ll be available to receive the delivery in person we will contact you to discuss a time and date that is most convenient for you. This means we can’t ship any items out until we have spoken to you to confirm a date. Should there be any issues or delays likely for any reason, we will arrange an alternative date with you. Our priority is providing you with your flooring solution as quickly as possible at a time that suits you best.
How much will my delivery cost?
For Mainland UK standard delivery costs £19.99 for vinyl rolls and £34.99 for flooring packs. Additional charges will be applied for deliveries outside Mainland UK including Eire.
Can I choose a specific slot or a Saturday delivery?
If you need to receive your delivery within a tight timeframe, you can request for your flooring to be delivered at a specific time. This will incur a surcharge of £20, and is advised for those who will not be able to dedicate a full day to wait in for delivery. You can also request a morning delivery which has a surcharge of £12.50.
If you place your order any time throughout the week before 10am on Friday you can also choose to have a Saturday delivery slot. There is also a surcharge of £42.50 for this service.
Please note: Some services may be unavailable in certain parts of the country. All delivery prices displayed include Vat unless otherwise stated.
What else do I need to do?
All deliveries are made ‘kerb side’ and we recommend arranging adequate help to off load your goods if you are unable to manage the flooring yourself. It is assumed that the delivery address will be accessible. Failed deliveries will incur a redelivery charge.

Looks great down, but on closer inspection there are a large number of boards which have what looks like a fault (should be seconds) - paint along the edge of the boards

The flooring has turned out to be great. The quality of the flooring seems to be getting better over the years. What helps is the ease of the website and helpful customers services if you have to ring them for advice or delivery checks. I have used Factory Flooring Direct many times for other customers and have recommended them to many. Will use you again some time soon.
