Finding the perfect flooring for your home and the style you wish to achieve can be difficult when there’s so much choice on the market. If you’re considering installing engineered wood flooring in your home we’ve taken a look at some of the best options available.

What is the best engineered wood flooring?

At Factory Direct Flooring Ltd we pride ourselves on supplying excellent flooring at all times and so when it comes to deciding which of our floors are the best, it’s hard not to say that all of them are. For the purposes of practicality though, we’ve taken a look at our stock of the best engineered wood flooring and evaluated them for several different factors so that you can make the most informed decision possible.

The best for durability

Engineered wood flooring is an excellent choice if you want to achieve a real wood look in your home without it costing you an arm and a leg. As it’s a wood and laminate composite it is also much more resistant to changes in atmosphere and as a result is much less likely to swell and warp over time. As its surface comes from real wood it also comes in an impressive variety of grains and finishes to suit every space you wish to put it in.

This flooring is made from a base layer of plywood which is sandwiched together and is thus incredibly durable. On top of this is placed a veneer of real wood which ranges in thickness depending on the quality of the flooring. The thicker the veneer the more expensive the flooring will be, but we do recommend buying as thick a veneer as your budget allows. A thicker veneer ensures your flooring will withstand being sanded and refinished in the case of dents and scratches, which means your floor will be perfect for more of its life.

The best for style

We have a superb array of flooring styles here at Factory Direct Flooring Ltd and our range in engineered wood flooring is no exception. Our selection comes in light, medium and dark shades, or in white, grey or natural wood tones. They also have an array of real oak veneer finishes including oils and lacquers in coffee and graphite tones and matt or gloss coatings.

Our engineered wood flooring comes from such excellent brands such as Abbey, Loire Naturalie, Manor, Tuscan, Parador and Herringbone Parquet. They also come in different quality categories which cover medium, heavy and extra heavy use. For those areas that experience higher levels of foot traffic, such as hallways and family rooms, we recommend extra heavy use floors to handle the substantial amount of wear and tear that can occur in these spaces.

The best for budget

Our best engineered wood flooring prices start at £15.89 in our lowest price bracket, with the maximum price in this category consisting of rustic oak styles at £23.98 per square meter. These less cost heavy designs are supplied by Abbey and come in either click system or tongue and groove installation designs with a general wear layer of 3mm. This means that there is a 3mm veneer which can be sanded and finished should you damage it.

Of course, for longer-lasting flooring, opting for an engineered wood floor that is at the upper end of your price range will guarantee you a better quality product.

As flooring specialists in everything from engineered wood flooring to underlay and skirting boards, at Factory Direct Flooring Ltd we pride ourselves on providing an excellent service to all of our customers. Engineered wood is the best choice if you’re looking for durability and practicality without wanting to miss out on the luxury of real wood.
