Dark engineered wood differs mainly by the colour, the way you lay it out and the thickness of the plank. For example, with dark oak and medium oak, the latter is slightly lighter and can help smaller rooms appear more open. As well as how dark the planks are, the colour can also change with certain tints. For example, golden oak may have a yellow tint, whereas smoked oak may have warm red undertones.
