This stuff is good BUT it would be so much easier to put it down with the correct tools. I am actually a quite annoyed by the site. The product is excellent and I think very easy to put down, and it looks really good too, however only when I actually opened the first box to start laying it did I spot the tiny "Tools you need" picture showing a tap tool and a pull bar. Now experienced fitters may well scoff and say "well you should have known" or "you should have read the instructions" but I am going to argue that when you are on a web site looking at this product, which is not cheap by any means, it should highlight the tools that you really do need to make it easy and to do a good job. Failing that, when you get to the checkout it ought to look at your trolley and say to itself "Oh you've got that have you, well you'll need this then so I'll suggest it and perhaps I might even increase my sales!" (Because as a computer programmer for many years I know that's how computers think! ;-) I needed to do that job on the day I read the instructions, and yes, if I had looked more and read more or known more I would have bought those bits and I would have enjoyed the experience of laying a very good floor, instead I realised too late, stressed too much, ended up making a tap tool because you can't really just use a wooden block, the product is actually quite brittle at the ends that you are going to be tapping on and really you need to buy this bespoke tool in the picture to make sure you don't buckle/break the snapping/locking mechanism. The pull-bar is needed at the end of a run and particularly what is usually going to be your last tile (though due to recesses I had effectively two of them. This product is not cheap - I bought it at Factory Direct Flooring - and I think spending the extra £8.39 on a fitting kit was not going to kill me. That said, the tapping block in that kit is not the one shown in the tiles’ instructions. Using the one sold on the site is, strictly speaking, likely to damage the thin leading edges of this expensive product and possibly lead to difficulties laying the next piece in the line, and at that price, you just want it to be quick and easy with no wastage from anything other than your own personal mistakes. I wish I had had the correct tool for the job, so I ended up making one, and once I had it, things went much better. So there you have it. I really like the product, but I am angry at myself for not doing more research, and at the site for not pushing me to buy a fitting kit, and also for not selling the specific fixing kit to suit the product. I am also a little annoyed that I don’t believe I got a single tile with a perfect unbroken strip of connectors. Every one had a few of the ‘bits’ missing – this didn’t much matter, when you make just one connection, but if you have to break it for some reason and then remake it more than a couple of times you could end up with insufficient to make a proper waterproof connection again and that would defeat the purpose. That is the real reason why I give 4 stars rather than 5, at that price the product should not be brittle or susceptible to end damage.
Lovely product, it looks almost slate-like and have used it in the kitchen and bathroom of a 2nd floor flat. It feels warm, looks great and seems quite soundproof too, which is useful in a flat with people underneath you. You dont get that 'clack clack' noise that you often get with laminates. I would use this again, and I might try the wood finishes elsewhere too. Excellent service from Factory Direct Flooring too, I would also use them again! Sooooo nice to get good customer service as well as a good product, and a good price, what more can a customer want?
This looks wonderful in my kitchen and has made it warmer
Very professional service, efficient and helpful. Good product that I bought before and now buying it for my daughter. Would recommend.
Ask a question
Our experts will answer it
Can this be laid straight over the top over kitchen floor tiles or would a sub base have to be laid first
Yes, this flooring can be laid over tiles as long and an underlay is used and the tiles are flat and even.

If you have a leak and it goes below the laminate will it be be ok or cause damage?
This laminate flooring is 100% waterproof as the main board is constructed from plastic and not HDF like other laminate floors . If you do have a leak i would suggest taking up the floor and drying out your subfloor and then refitting to be on the safe side

We would like to put this in the bathroom, the floor is wooden planks. What underlay do you recommend for this product?
Perfect product for bathrooms as the flooring is completely waterproof. we would suggest Compact Board for this type of installation.
