For Laminate Wood Flooring And Solid Wood Flooring

Laminate wood flooring and solid wood flooring give any room a beautiful look because hey attract the natural light and add a new dimension to the room. However, they are not as strong as they look. Neither laminate wood flooring nor solid wood flooring will protect themselves against the test of time. They do not have a protection shield that will prevent any damage. Instead, that is completely up to you to achieve.

All laminate wood flooring and solid wood flooring must have a regular maintenance schedule in order to keep it beautiful for as long as possible and ensure a return on your investment! As such, some points and recommendations are outlined below. They can help you to provide adequate care for your flooring.

  • Sweep/vacuum the floor with the correct bristles/attachment on a regular basis to ensure that the laminate wood flooring or solid wood flooring is kept free from oil, dust, grit, dirt any anything else that is actually abrasive and will damage the flooring.
  • Strategically place mats and rugs by all doors leading into the room so that any foreign objects that will either prove to be abrasive or stain the floor are not dragged through onto it.
  • Choose only rugs with natural undersides rather than those with rubber as the latter traps air between it and the floor, thus leading to degradation. They should be at every door or heavy use area, such as a sink, a desk or just in front of the sofa.
  • Prevent spillages of liquids as far as possible. Moisture may cause damage so be extra careful.
  • Never use a wet mop or cloth on your laminate wood flooring or solid wood flooring, even if it is to clean up liquids, food or moisture. Always use a damp cloth instead and then wipe the area dry.
  • Always take footwear off before walking over the flooring.
  • Protect your laminate wood flooring or solid wood flooring by adding felt pads or castors beneath furniture to prevent any marks from becoming embedded into the wood. Also, furniture or any other heavy objects should always be lifted to prevent marking. This means no rolling, dragging or pushing.
  • Avoid using polish. Only use products that are recommended by the manufacturer if you use any at all.

All of the above points are extremely relevant in the care of your laminate wood flooring or solid wood flooring. However, it is also recommended that you read the manufacturer’s guide to find any extra information that you may need to know.
