When choosing solid wood flooring, it is essential that you consider how it will look in your home. Believe it or not, there is a whole variety of looks for you to choose from so you can look around our product range until you find the one that will bet suit your home. To help you to visualise and understand the difference between your various options, take a look below:
Satin Lacquer
Sating lacquer is applied to solid wood flooring to provide a protective sheath that will protect the wood and yet reflect the light into the room, thus making it appear more light and airy than you would have thought possible. It is extremely easy to clean and very hard wearing.
Matt Lacquer
Matt lacquer is a beautiful finished look because it brings the best out of your solid wood flooring. It is barely noticeable but gives the wood a natural finish without requiring much in terms of maintenance.
Oiled
If you are looking for a gorgeously rich surface finish then oiled is definitely the option to choose. Today it is possible to prefinish the solid wood flooring with its own natural oils, meaning that it looked how nature intended. The beauty of the wood is highlighted whilst the wood flooring itself is highly protected. It does require some maintenance to ensure that this protection remains in place but the surface will appear much richer than with any other finish.
Brushed
This effect is achieved before any finish is actually applied to the wood, meaning that you can combine it with any of the three options above. The surface of the solid wood flooring itself is roller brushed in order to remove any soft growth rings that remain in the wood. As such, the surface is extremely natural and beautifully textured.
Hand Distressed
Again, this is performed before the finish is applied. The solid wooden flooring is ran through a machine that scrapes the surface of the wood a little more strongly than if it were brushed. This makes the surface of the floor uneven and actually ages it somewhat. A stain is then applied to highlight this and to ensure that it is protected as well as distressed.
Unfinished
This is literally hen solid wood flooring is simply sanded down a little so the company installing the solid wood flooring can finish it to your specifications. As such, you can have the floor of your dreams created for you. There is nothing better than having bespoke flooring if you have a specific look in mind that you can otherwise rarely find.
