Laminate and engineered wood flooring: balancing quality with price

In terms of quality, appearance and authenticity; hardwood flooring is the very best floor covering to install in your home. However, this type of wood flooring is not always so appealing when it comes to price, but you must bear in mind that you are paying for high quality and an authentic, sought-after natural material.

If solid wood flooring is a little out of your price range, don’t worry – you still have plenty of options. Most people in this situation have a choice between laminate flooring and engineered wood flooring, but which one they go for all depends on two factors – quality and price.

Quality: engineered wood flooring
Engineered wood flooring is a great compromise if you can’t afford hardwood. It is cheaper than the genuine article but you still end up with real, natural materials in your home.

Affordability: Laminate flooring
Laminate flooring is a great option for nearly every homeowner. You don’t end up with actual wood, but you do get (depending on the manufacturer and type you choose) a realistic impression of it.

Laminate flooring is the most affordable option – a lot cheaper than hardwood or engineered wood flooring – and there are many quality types out there. Unfortunately, it will never have the authenticity of the real thing, but who cares when it looks great, is easy to install and lasts for years?
