When choosing hardwood flooring for your home, you may find yourself presented with a bewildering number of options. Oak, maple, birch – which one to go for? These are some of the most common choices, but one material which many people overlook is teak.

Teak has many appealing qualities, all making it a perfect material for hardwood flooring. It is one of the hardest woods available, whilst also being durable and incredibly beautiful.

Colour and appearance
Teak’s natural qualities lend it an attractive colour even before staining, with a palette ranging from a rich, luxurious gold to a warm reddish brown, although you can also find it in a lighter yellowy brown shade. Like in other woods, these colours deepen into darker, richer shades over time.

The overall appearance is smooth, even and uniform, allowing you to create a consistent and natural look in your home.

Durability
Another natural characteristic of teak is its resistance to decay. This makes it a highly durable and worthwhile long-term investment, as it will remain looking stunning in your home for many years to come.

Varieties to choose from
You can choose from any shade or species of teak, or you can go for a more stylised version such as shipsdeck for the living room or grey-painted and waterproof Quickstep laminate flooring for the bathroom.
